We had a few visitors this week.
Elder Schwitzer of the Quorum of the Seventy and his wife Sister
Schwitzer visited our mission this week. It has been so long and crazy
trying to prepare everything, and now it is all over! We had such a
blast. Elder Schwitzer wanted to visit random apartments and hospitals
to check them and make sure that we are healthy. One of those random
apartments that he chose to visit was ours. It is a good thing we
cleaned our apartment! Elder and Sister Schwitzer are so wonderful. As
they visited with us, Elder Schwitzer shared a few of his mission
stories. He actually served in the same mission as President Rahlf.
Elder Schwitzer toured the mission on Tuesday and then on Wednesday
we all met in Cauayan for our Zone Conference. The conference was
great. I got to see all my friends from Roxas and Tuguegarao there. We
learned so much from the morning session. Sister Schwitzer had a special
meeting just for the sisters. We learned a lot about Gifts of the
Spirit. For the conference, Sister Rahlf gave a talk on the third
commandment of the ten commandments, "Thou shalt not take the Lord's
name in vain." She then told us, "Think actions, not language." While it
is important to keep our language clean, it is also important to
remember to honor the name of the Lord in our every day actions. We
should be "anxiously engaged in a good cause" and "help to bring forth
Zion." President Rahlf spoke next on the importance of obedience as
missionaries. We have to be obedient to the commandments of God and also
the mission rules in order to work miracles in the lives of those we
teach. If we are not obedient, we won't have the spirit with us to
direct us in our work. After that, we heard from both Sister and Elder
Schwitzer, who taught us the role that repentance plays in the
conversion of our investigators.
At lunch Elder and Sister
Schwitzer sat by us. We were able to ask them questions-most of which
were about Elder Schwitzer's talk last general conference. It was really
cool to have general authorities of the church eating chicken curry and
rice with us.
After lunch, I had my first "MLC" or
Missionary Leadership Council here in the mission. We learned so much
there too. My brain still hurts from all this learning! Elder Schwitzer
talked to all of the leaders of the Philippines Cauayan Mission about
how to be a better leader.
We also did two companion exchanges
this week and I was able to be companions with Sister Golong and Sister
Paniergo. It was really great to be companions with Sister Paniergo
because she was my house mate in my first area. She is going home in two
days. We had a great day together and caught up on everything that has
happened since we lived in the same apartment in Tuguegarao.
