Things are great here in Pena Blanca! Sister Valdez and I had a great week.
This
week our stellar investigator Jake got baptized! It was so amazing to
see! He has worked so hard in overcoming and abstaining from alcohol. It
is amazing how this gospel really changes people! It was really amazing
to hear the testimony of Jake right after he was baptized into the true
church. He and his wife and two darling kids are already making plans
to be sealed as a family in the temple for time and all eternity.
Sister April was also interviewed for her baptism on the 9th of May. We are so excited for her!
This
week I felt impressed to commit Ivy, Rose Caryll, and Rizalyn Joy to
baptism. Rose Caryll is nine years old, and despite being so young, she
has expressed a desire to be baptized for a long time. Her older sister
Rizalyn Joy, and Ivy, her cousin, haven't felt that same desire and had a
hard time keeping the commitments we give them. They have all had
baptismal dates before, but all of them fell through. We are hopeful for
this one though. Sister Valdez and I gave a powerful lesson on the
importance of following the example of our Savior, Jesus Christ, down
into the waters of baptism. Afterwords, we asked them if they would
follow His example by being baptized. This time, instead of looking away
awkwardly or trying to change the subject, they all readily agreed. We
are so excited for them!
This week we have worked harder than
ever, and it has really paid off! We had 44 lessons, 1 baptism, 1
baptismal interview, and committed 3 more to baptism! You could say that
there are some great things happening in Pena Blanca!
Love,
Sister Lewis
